10/31/2011 - Important Information for our International Customers

We’ve been experiencing some delays in international packages arriving to their destinations shipped via USPS International Priority Mail. Normally this service delivers mail within 6-12 business days but can now take up to or over a month!

We’ve recently found out the following information. How international packages are normally shipped from Hawaii is that they are accepted by the local post office and then shipped via air or container (boat) to Honolulu, HI (Oahu Island) for processing through the processing and distribution center (P&DC). From Honolulu, the packages are loaded into containers and shipped to California to the international processing and distribution center (ISC) in Los Angeles. From California, the packages are processed and shipped onto their destinations. Due to the current revenue decline of the USPS, the post office now waits until a container is completely full before heading to California whereas a couple months ago, they would ship the containers half empty if need be and it would usually take less than a week for an international package to ship from HI to CA to be processed. Now they are waiting for containers to fill up before shipping which can take weeks! This is supposedly a cost saving measure by USPS and affects USPS International Priority Mail shipments. USPS Express International and Global Guaranteed packages are not affected by this delay as far as we have been informed nor does this affect shipments via UPS, FedEx or DHL.

The holiday gift giving season is upon us and we highly encourage our international customers to consider opting for express shipping so they can receive their packages in a timely manner. We work with several express shipping companies such as USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL and will offer our customers the best shipping prices possible. We do not know how long this delay for USPS International Priority Mail shipments will last for, if it is a permanent or temporary measure but will update our international customers accordingly. Please note that this information applies to international shipments only and not domestic shipments.
